Hey, welcome in! I’m Chloe.
I’m a wife, interior designer, recent expat in Germany and blogger who loves nothing more than a crisp fall afternoon full of all things Jesus, flowers, and hot tea.
As a young girl, I discovered my passion to create. I was forever rustling up some DIY project for a family Christmas gift, fixing a vase of fresh daffodils for my mom, or testing a new cookie recipe on my three hungry (and very willing) brothers. Creating, and sharing these creations, was much of my childhood. But unlike many trivial childhood matters, I did not outgrow this passion and instead, flew headlong into a career of constant creation (interior design) paired with additional willing recipe testers (namely, my husband, Charlie, and those around our table for Sunday dinner).
Following graduation from design school and working as a designer within a small firm specialized in the residential field, I realized that I wanted to integrate the sharing element back into my daily creations, as I believe creating and sharing are most effective when accomplished together. During this time, Charlie and I had taken on a bit of a fixer upper, and I was able to witness first-hand how creating a home well designed for our needs could simultaneously become a space to share and nurture our marriage and others. Thus was born Porch & Peony to celebrate the joy of purposeful living in each area of our lives through home, hospitality and travel while helping others achieve it as well through our design and floral services.
More recently, my creative passion has moved from our life in South Carolina to our life in Germany as we have moved abroad for Charlies work. Regardless, whether abroad or at home, I find my heart is most full when we can open our home to serve our family, friends, and neighbors. The joy of the hum of creating a tablescape purposely set within a well designed room while later experiencing the laughter of those savoring a hot drink after a meal—these are the ideas, creations, and inspirations that I seek to capture in my posts. I want my posts, whether about design service offerings, home creations, hospitality tips, travel plans or floral creations, to inspire this blend of joyful purposeful creation within a space designed to both serve your needs and share with others. Establishing an life with an environment full of this joyful experience, this purpose and this shared creation, is what drives me to share each moment with you. I am so grateful you are here to join the adventure!
