“But what if beauty is one of the greatest gifts I give my neighbors and my guests? What if my own choices give others the permission they need to forgo the plastic jug, to light the special candle, to sit quietly in the afternoon with milky tea in a bone china cup? I believe beauty reflects the truth about who God is and what this world is all about. What could be more important than cultivating beauty in little ways and large, however I am able?”

Hey! Welcome In,
I’m chloe, the face behind porch & peony
As a young girl, I discovered my passion to create. I was forever rustling up some DIY project, fixing a vase of fresh daffodils, or testing a new cookie recipe on my family. Creating, and sharing these creations, was much of my childhood. But unlike many childhood passions, I did not outgrow this desire and instead, flew headlong into a career of constant creation (interior design) paired with additional willing recipe testers (namely, my husband, Charlie, and those around our table for Sunday dinner).
Since first discovering my love to create, I have worn many hats: design student, interior designer, florist, professor, blogger… Following graduation from Anderson University’s School of Interior Design and working as a designer within a small firm specialized in the residential field, I realized that I wanted to integrate the sharing element back into my daily creations, as I believe creating and sharing are most effective when accomplished together. During this time, Charlie and I had taken on a bit of a fixer upper, and I was able to witness first-hand how creating a home well designed for our needs could simultaneously become a space to share and nurture our marriage and others. Thus was born Porch & Peony – a blog designed to celebrate the joy of purposeful living in each area of our lives: home, hospitality, flowers and travel, all while helping others achieve it as well through design and floral services.
More recently, my creative passion has moved from our life in South Carolina to our life in Germany as we have moved abroad for Charlies work (although my services are still available!). Regardless, whether abroad or at home, I find my heart is most full when we can open our home to serve our family, friends, and neighbors. The joy of the hum of creating a tablescape purposely set within a well designed room while later experiencing the laughter of those savoring a hot drink after a meal—these are the ideas, creations, and inspirations that I seek to capture in my posts. I want my posts, whether about design service offerings, home creations, hospitality tips, travel plans or floral creations, to inspire this blend of joyful purposeful creation within a space designed to both serve your needs and share with others. Establishing a life with an environment full of this joyful experience, this purpose and this shared creation, is what drives me to share each moment with you and I hope that you will find content that blesses your spirit and encourages your day to day. I am so grateful you are here to join the adventure!
