Hello everyone! As today’s temperatures have soared into the triple digits without much hope of them coming down very soon, I realized that I was in need of some fun, colorful summer décor encouragement for all the reasons that I do love summer, and I thought perhaps you might as well. For me, summer speaks of ice cream cones during picnics, melamine plates with watermelon, hot afternoons with bright lake colors and breezy beach décor. Having grown up most of my life near a lake and within a couple hours of the beach, it seems that the crisp nautical style blends effortlessly with both the pastel and bold tones of the summer season. For that reason, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite finds recently that have spoken to my summer excited heart. Despite their summer roots, many of these pieces are quite timeless and can fit well into bohemian, eclectic, transitional or traditional styled homes for year-round interest.
Outdoor:
When thinking of summer décor, my mind first lands on outdoor entertaining. Whether sitting around a lovely table or taking your meals on the go, the beautiful blue skies of summer seem to beckon us to enjoy a meal outside. I have found that regardless of the location, whether at a table, next to the pool or reclining on a chaise, my favorite way to enjoy a meal outside is with a colorful melamine plate and a cold drink.

Indoor:
Much to my relief, summer décor does not only extend to the outdoors because unless you are in the water, it can be a challenge to linger very long outside during the mid-day South Carolina sun. Even inside however, I love to emulate the mix of bold artwork, soft ticking stripes, woven baskets and strong textures that designers such as Ellen Kavanaugh, Aryn Guillory and Kara Miller use within their designs to provide a subtle coastal vibe. To me, colorful artwork, accessories and serving pieces can help to bring life and bright sun filled joy of the season, without having to recreate your entire aesthetic.

Final Thoughts
Even though the heat of summer can be a challenge to bear, bringing in the bright colors, tastes and aesthetics of the season can lift one’s spirits rather quickly. Whether spending your summer in a great staycation, or lounging on the beach (need an itinerary, check out one HERE!), I hope these pieces will encourage you to enjoy your own home paradise through these next months.
Happy summer!
