I think sharing a good cup of hot tea (or coffee!) I think sharing a good cup of hot tea (or coffee!) with cake might just be my love language 🥰 is it yours? Some of the closest, most treasured people in my life have memories surrounding warm drink rituals cataloged in my mind with them. A warm drink to soothe the soul and savor in the moment; a cup of tea helps life’s worries just disappear and reset me into the present. Much like a cup of tea, using fresh, seasonal produce highlights the best of the season and helps to re-center my gaze on the everyday beauties that are just before me. While here today, they might perhaps be gone tomorrow, so let’s soak in the Lord’s beauty that graces the now ❤️ As I have noted before, since moving to Germany a year and a half ago, I have become much more keenly aware of these little rhythms and now find as many opportunities as possible to incorporate seasonal goodies into our daily routines. Oktoberfest: a Munich tradition spread to the worl Oktoberfest: a Munich tradition spread to the world This past Sunday wrapped up Oktoberfest festivities, bringing Munich's biggest folk festival to a close and the Ubahn crowd levels back to normal (that is until the Christmas markets!!) Living here in Munich for the past year and a half, Charlie and I have gotten to see firsthand the masses of Trachten wearing guests and have heard from both locals and visitors alike the best (and worst!) parts of this festival. That being said, my most recommended Oktoberfest festivities to enjoy are: - the opening parade - the Oide Wiesn - the food! Take a train, tour or car (about 2 hours away) to visit this charming region! 🏰 Explore the Eger Castle - a blend of original structures, reconstructions and ruins, the castle brings some of the best views of the city and insights to the incredible victory over the Ottoman Turks in 1552 ⛪ Visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. John The Apostle - one of the largest cathedrals in Hungary, the Eger Basilica is a stunning display of classical craftsmanship. Apparently I took the summer off from posting 🙈 Apparently I took the summer off from posting 🙈 somehow time flies by and I suddenly realize I have  dropped off from the IG world...  But it's hard not to when summer has been filled with soaking in all things brunch... monthly brunch clubs, welcome brunches, friend brunches... After living in Germany for over a year now, these are the get togethers that make it feel like home and wow I'm so thankful for that ❤️  Our Saturday mornings have become full of food and fellowship, baby snuggles and laughter as we linger over brunch until sometimes late hours of the afternoon. We sit and snack and talk and snack again, sharing both our hearts and food together. While traveling is wonderful, it is these friendships, these times of mutual encouragement and discussion and discipleship that fill my heart more fully than anything 🥹 So, here's to hoping one day I'll be more on top of sharing these moments, but even more so, I hope you can experience them too 😍 . . . . #expatingermany #expatliving #expatlife #brunch #summertable #brunchclub
Cheers to 5 years my love ❤️🥳 When Charlie Cheers to 5 years my love ❤️🥳 When Charlie and I realized a few months ago that we would be spending several weeks in Hungary this summer for his work, I immediately set out to research interesting adventures along our route and it was here that I stumbled upon the beauty of Schossberger Castle, now run as Botaniq, Castle of Tura. To capitalize on this once in a lifetime experience and celebrate our five year anniversary a bit early, we booked a room and upon arrival were instantly transported into a world we have NEVER experienced... Butlers and bellhops.... Spas and gardens.... Service I would have only imagined in the movies, but here at Botaniq really exists. While I never in my wildest dreams imagined we would get to stay in a castle such as this one, experiencing Botaniq was beyond a dreamy castle stay 😍 But even without this amazing castle, if I could go back to our 21 year old selves that end of June and tell them how beautiful this life would be; how much we would learn; how much we would grow. How good and hard and beautiful and fragile and dying to oneself and one another and filled with grace upon grace. Even with enjoying more travel right now while living abroad, our everyday really isn’t staying in castles or wild adventures but slow Tuesdays and nightly devotions and evenings with family and friends and ever leaning into our Lord who holds it all in His hand. Our past 5 years may not be anything like the “5 year plan” we dreamed years ago but oh how I am in awe of the story the Lord has given us instead.
