A Send Off To Summer: 3 Easy Tricks For Styling A Seasonally Transitional Tablescape

As this weekend celebrates Labor Day, many will be winding down summer and beginning the transition into the fall season. For most, school has or is about to start, vacations are wrapping up and the air has somewhat begun to “cool” (hey, even 90 degrees is cooler than 95!). While all this transition is happening in our homes, there is much transition within my gardens as well. Gone are the lilies, orlaya and peonies of spring…..

Beautifully Storied: My Favorite Ways To Find & Install Art

Beautiful art is entirely in the eye of the beholder. One might be drawn to contemporary non-representational pieces while another loves a totally realistic portrait or impressionistic scene. Regardless of artistic taste, finding the right pieces for your home will bring character and dimension to the spaces that can give insight to your soul. I once went into a client’s home who had spent their lives traveling and collecting art throughout the years. To hear the stories of the art they had found, what drew them to purchase each piece, what interactions they had with the artist and the memories they had throughout the experience was simply stunning. Even if I had walked through their home entirely alone, I believe I would have left knowing more about them, their interests and their story. See, the beauty of art, regardless of style, is that it can provide a collected and storied appearance to your home that gives dimension, layers and eclectic tastes that are distinct to a space made by you. Creating beauty, order, and storied dimension takes time and intentionality, as our world naturally falls back into a state of disarray, but in our efforts to create beautiful spaces and celebrate the creativity and beauty brought out by artists…..

Hey again everyone! I am so excited to highlight our next regional roundup of stunning boutique hotels. As I mentioned in the Southeastern Regional Roundup post (you can read about those features HERE!), I absolutely love finding ways to blend together design, hospitality and travel. Having first discovered this love in design school, I soon found a passion for ways that I could celebrate boutique hotels who sought to combine gorgeous aesthetics,  local treasures and warm hospitality to become a home away from home for the excited, but potentially weary, traveler. A well designed environment can have such a profound impact on our wellbeing, even beyond what we consciously realize and so frequently, people take vacations to recover and explore. By providing a beautiful and restorative environment, boutique hotels….

Trifles have long been the favorite layered dessert served at holiday occasions. Beautifully set within glass serving dishes to view the colorful layers, trifles can be a quick dessert to create for any crowd. However, that being said, many trifles are tailored to a specific holiday. Strawberry Lemon for Easter, Strawberry Blueberry for the Fourth of July, Cranberry Orange for Thanksgiving… While I love creating seasonal desserts, sometimes you need a staple that will work for all occasions. Thus, was born the perfect trifle dessert for any holiday: the Strawberry Cranberry Cheesecake Trifle. By including both summery and wintry tones through the strawberries and cranberries, this trifle seamlessly blends in any season. Not too sweet or too tart, it provides the….

Valentine’s Day Luncheon: How To Celebrate Those You Love

While so much of our commercial society has changed the way that we view and celebrate love on Valentine’s Day, it is a day, and time of year, in which we should celebrate those most dear to us within our lives. It seems that children are often the best at celebrating those they love on Valentine’s Day, as they long to give each one of their friends and family members a Valentine’s treat of sorts. Candy hearts, teddy bears, chocolates, roses… it seems there are a plethora of ways to celebrate. However, for adults, much of the commercial holiday seems to be locked around romantic comedies or dinner reservations. But this Valentine’s, I wanted to celebrate not only my husband, Charlie, but also those whose love has inspired me and been passed down for generations. In this same mission, I hope to give you 3 tips for how to create a Valentine’s Day luncheon to celebrate your family and friends that you love dearly while creating a festive and beautiful atmosphere….

My family and I recently had the wonderful opportunity to launch out on a new adventure to discover the Jackson Hole area for our family vacation. As it was the first vacation we had been able to take all together in quite some time (the fourth trip planned and finally not cancelled due to Covid), we thoroughly enjoyed getting to experience the local culture of the Jackson area, adventure in Grand Teton National Park and take in the stunningly gorgeous views of the western landscape covered in snow. Receiving an average of 500 inches of snow per year, which lingers around for about 7 months, Jackson, Wyoming, and its surrounding area (known as Jackson Hole) is a perfect place to explore and enjoy a winter vacation. With such a snowy landscape, we found 10 amazing excursions to fully discover Jackson….

3 Simple Christmas Treats For Giving As Gifts

When Charlie and I got married and moved into our first home, I was so excited to celebrate the Christmas season together. As my favorite holiday, Christmas seems to invade our lives with excitement, joy, hope and sweet anticipation. Even as a little girl, I was wrapping presents in July and setting aside the recipes for Christmas treats I wanted to try in October. So, coming upon our first married Christmas in our new home, I could not wait to try every new recipe and décor idea. After spending hours in the kitchen, days creating evergreen home displays and evenings making cranberry and orange garlands, I realized that all good things have their limits and sometimes less is more. I learned this lesson most thoroughly with the treats that I gave our neighbors. Wanting to create sweet relationships with those living near us, I worked…
