Hello world!
Welcome to Porch and Peony and my first blog post! My name is Chloe and I am so excited to share with you all of the many thoughts, how-to’s and inspiration ideas I have been dreaming of. I wanted to start by mentioning why I created this blog and what you will be seeing in more of my posts.
As an interior designer recently graduated from design school, I wanted to start this blog to bring together ideas for not only home, hospitality, and travel, but also to promote the joy that comes from a purposeful life. If we are not intentional, life will simply move us along with its current, without us making it a life that we want to live. Having started out of school newly married and in a new old home, my husband, Charlie, and I began dreaming of creating a life and environment that we felt not only was nourishing to us, but also would serve those who came across our path. This has led us into many fixer upper home improvements (on a budget of course!), hosting family and friend celebrations, landscaping schemes (in crazy South Carolina heat) and travel adventures (which Covid-19 has seen to alter, adjust and cause replanning many times over).
Porch and Peony is here to give home ideas to the DIY lover, hospitality encouragement to the timid host and travel plans for those who want to see the world.
But most importantly, I want to share inspiration that has brought joy into the life of me and my family in hopes that it might bring joy into your life as well, so please feel free to always share your advice and thoughts with me along the way!
After being inspired to start my blog, I also wanted to provide a way to serve you all in the homes and environments that you interact in daily. Certainly, I want each and every one of you to feel empowered to change your environment through the ideas and collaborations I share through my posts, but I am also here for even more tangible help through my edesign services if the process seems a little to daunting to begin! Have you ever stared at a room and thought “how is this supposed to come together”? Because, I certainly have! If this is you, please do not shy away from tackling your space. As a member of ASID (American Society of Interior Design) and through all I have gleaned from design school, I would love to help collaborate with you in creating a vision for your space that you truly love. Check out my edesign page HERE to let the collaboration begin!
As I am SO excited for you to join this journey of Porch and Peony with me and hope it might make your life (and mine!) a little sweeter along the way, I also want to challenge you to think of how you might want to bring purpose into your life today…tomorrow ….and the next 5 years. That might be first changing your room, having a friend over for coffee or planning a getaway trip. But whatever that first step might be, we are designed to have purpose and I can’t wait to share in that creative journey with you!!
Happy creating!!
